Asepto Registered with Fibre Circle: Strengthening Sustainable Aseptic Liquid Packaging in Africa

Sustainability is no longer a choice; it is a responsibility. For brands operating in today’s global and regional markets, compliance with local environmental regulations and alignment with circular economy principles are critical to long-term success. At Asepto, we believe that responsible packaging must combine innovation, compliance, and genuine environmental stewardship.

At Asepto, we are pleased to share that we are a registered producer in good standing with PAMDEV NPC, trading as Fibre Circle, South Africa’s leading Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO) for the paper and paper packaging sector. This registration is in line with Section 18 of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (Act No. 59 of 2008) and South Africa’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Regulations.

As part of this registration, Asepto can provide a Certificate of Good Standing / proof of compliance on request, offering transparency and assurance to customers and stakeholders across the African region.

This registration marks a significant milestone in Asepto’s journey in Africa, one that reinforces our commitment to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), sustainable forestry, and circular economy practices across our aseptic carton production.

Local Compliance, Global Expertise

Africa remains a key growth region for Asepto. Our Fibre Circle registration reflects our belief that local regulatory understanding must go hand in hand with global expertise.

Asepto brings to the African market:

·        Global experience in aseptic carton manufacturing and sustainability practices

·        Deep understanding of EPR systems across multiple geographies

·        Local regulatory alignment through recognised PRO participation

This allows us to support customers operating in South Africa and the wider African region with packaging solutions that are both technologically advanced and regulatory-aware.

What Fibre Circle Certification Means

Fibre Circle is South Africa’s recognised PRO for paper-based packaging. It enables producers to meet their EPR obligations through a structured system that includes registration, reporting, and participation in collection and recycling initiatives.

Asepto’s registration with Fibre Circle confirms that we are:

·        Formally registered under South Africa’s EPR framework for paper and paper packaging

·        Meeting our producer-related obligations via a recognised PRO

·        Actively contributing to responsible paper recovery and recycling systems

This demonstrates Asepto’s commitment to responsible packaging stewardship in markets where EPR regulations are in force.

For our partners and customers in Africa, this means working with a packaging company that understands and respects local laws while delivering world-class technology and performance.

A Clear Advantage for Brands in Africa

Under South Africa’s EPR Regulations, the definition of a ‘producer’ can include brand owners, importers, or other entities, depending on how products are placed on the market. As such, EPR compliance is often a shared and structured responsibility, rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.

By partnering with Asepto, brands benefit from:

·        Working with a registered and compliant packaging partner

·        Stronger audit readiness and documentation support, including proof of Asepto’s good standing

·        Packaging solutions aligned with circular economy principles

·        Enhanced ESG credibility through responsible supply chain choices

Rather than replacing a brand’s own compliance obligations, Asepto’s EPR alignment supports customer compliance strategies, simplifies sustainability audits, and strengthens overall ESG positioning.

Sustainability Leadership. Business Advantage. Asepto Certified.

It is important to clarify that EPR compliance specifically relates to producer responsibilities under the EPR Regulations, such as registration, declarations, and achievement of recovery targets through a PRO.

Through our registration with Fibre Circle, Asepto is aligned with South Africa’s EPR requirements for paper and paper packaging as they apply to us as a packaging manufacturer and producer under the applicable framework.

This alignment reinforces our approach to sustainability: clear scope, regulatory accuracy, and measurable contribution without overstatement.

As Africa’s packaging landscape evolves, Asepto stands ready, certified, compliant, and committed to sustainability.
